Run it as administrator. This tool installs the USB driver and writes the
firmware, so it needs administrator rights. Right-click ScannerUpdater.exe →
“Run as administrator” (it will also ask on its own). When Windows asks
“Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?”, click Yes.
Without this the update cannot run.
First time you open it: Windows may first show a blue “Windows protected your PC”
screen (unknown publisher). This is normal for this tool. Click “More info”, then
“Run anyway” — then accept the administrator prompt above. You only do this once.
If the download is blocked (“Virus detected” / “Blocked”)
This is a false alarm — the tool is unsigned, which some browsers and antivirus flag
automatically. It is safe. To keep the file:
Chrome: open Downloads (Ctrl + J), find ScannerUpdater.exe, click the
⋮ (or “Keep”) next to it → Keep → Keep anyway.
If Windows Defender removed it after download: open Windows Security →
Virus & threat protection → Protection history → select the ScannerUpdater
item → Actions → Restore / Allow on device.
On a managed work computer these options may be turned off by
your IT department. If so, ask IT to allow ScannerUpdater.exe, or contact AgroCares support.
How to update your scanner
Turn the scanner OFF. Connect the USB cable to the computer and clip the charging connector onto the scanner — make sure it is seated firmly.
Right-click ScannerUpdater.exe → “Run as administrator” and click Yes when Windows asks for permission. It finds your scanner by itself and shows “Scanner detected”.
Type your scanner device name exactly as printed on the label — the name starts with SC, has digits or underscores in the middle and ends with E or D (e.g. SC1852E, SC_123E, SC0153D, SC_153D), at most 7 characters. Tick “switched OFF”, then press Start Update. A wrong device name stops the scanner from processing samples, so double-check it against the label.
When the yellow box says so, turn the scanner ON. The update runs by itself — keep everything connected.
When it finishes, press and hold the SCAN button until the scanner switches off. Done — you can unplug it.
What it does
Installs the latest scanner firmware — the firmware is built in, nothing else to download.
Restores the calibration file automatically if it is missing.
Sets your scanner device name to the name you enter.
Installs the USB driver if the scanner is not detected (one click).
The app checks for its own newer versions and updates itself, so you always download the latest here.
